Beach Closures on Thursday, October 19

TOFINO B.C. – Residents and visitors are to be advised that extreme wave hazards, with a risk of thunderstorms and high winds have been forecasted for the West Coast of Vancouver Island. The District of Tofino have closed all public beach accesses within the District during the highest tides due to storm surges and hazardous conditions on Thursday, October 19, 2017. Parks Canada may also be closing several beaches and parking lots in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve in anticipation of hazardous conditions. The closures will remain in effect until 3:00 p.m. at the earliest. 

Please respect all temporary beach closures and follow directions on any associated postings.

Stay tuned to local media, District communications channels (Facebook and Twitter), and Environment Canada for the most up to date information.

TIPS:

  • Bring loose objects inside (surfboards, patio furniture, toys, etc.).
  • Enjoy storm-watching at a safe distance from the beach.
  • Monitor the weather and use caution.
