Child Care Relief Worker

TITLE:  Child Care Relief Worker
DEPARTMENT:  Financial Services

Position:  The Community Children’s Centre, located on the Westcoast of Vancouver Island in Tofino BC, is seeking two qualified candidates to fill the position of Child Care Worker on a casual relief basis.  Reporting to the Daycare Supervisor, the Child Care Relief Worker assists with the day-to-day operations of the Community Children’s Centre.   In accordance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act – Child Care Licensing Regulation, a Child Care Relief Worker must:

  • Be at least 19 years of age
  • Be able to provide care and mature guidance to children
  • Possess, a minimum, an Early Childhood Educator Assistant Certificate in BC 
  • Possess a current Child Safe First Aid certificate
  • Have relevant work experience

Hours of Work & Salary:  This position is a casual relief position used during periods of staff shortages to perform the roll of Child Care Worker in the Centre.  The hourly rate for a Child Care Relief Worker is $21.23.  This position is subject to a probationary period, during which time the wage will be $19.11 per hour.  As this position is a union position (CUPE Local 118), all terms and conditions of your employment will be governed by the Collective Agreement.
