Proposed West Coast Transit Service - Alternative Approval Process

Currently there are limited public transportation options on the west coast which has prompted strong
community interest to improve local transportation services through the creation of a local transit
service.

The Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District (ACRD) has been exploring with BC Transit and community
stakeholders the potential for a transit service on the west coast for several years. Public engagement
sessions were held across the west coast in the spring of 2019. The overall feedback for the new transit
service was positive.

The ACRD is conducting and Alternative Approval Process (AAP) within District of Ucluelet, District of Tofino, Toquaht Nation, Yuu?u?i??at? Government and Electoral Area "C" (Long Beach) in order to obtain electorate approval to proceed with the creation of a conventional fixed route transit service on the West Coast.

The AAP is structured so that eligible electors that are in favour of the Transit Service do not have to do anything; it is assumed that you are in support if you do not submit a response form opposing the service.  Only those opposed to the service must fill out a response form.

To oppose the service, people can pick up AAP forms at the District of Tofino Municipal Office during business hours, but they must be submitted to the ACRD via email, mail, or fax.  Submissions are due by November 29th, 2019 at 4:00 p.m.
