The District of Tofino's bylaws promote community livability by maintaining the health, safety and general wellness of the community. The District of Tofino's Bylaw Enforcement Department provides the citizens of Tofino with a variety of services related to regulatory issues. Bylaw Enforcement attempts to gain compliance first through education and communication and ultimately, where required, through enforcement actions such as issuing tickets or seeking stronger legal solutions.
Our primary goals are:

- Maintaining community standards, which contribute to improving the quality of life in Tofino
- Managing behavioral and nuisance issues so as to promote a harmonious living environment
Bylaw Officers work primarily on a reactive, complaint-driven, basis. A bylaw complaint is a formal request to have an alleged bylaw infraction investigated by a bylaw enforcement officer. Complete the Bylaw Complaint Web Form or submit a completed fillable PDF form to the Bylaw Department by:

Bylaw Adjudication Process
The Bylaw Adjudication system allows local governments to manage most bylaw violations such as parking tickets at the local level rather than through the Provincial Court system.
