Situated at the tip of the Esowista Peninsula in Clayoquot Sound, Tofino is is bordered on three sides by water and to the south by the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Within the District of Tofino and nearby at the Pacific Rim Nation Park Reserve, there are numerous parks, trails and beaches for both residents and visitors to explore and enjoy.

The Parks and Recreation Program contributes daily to provide leisure opportunities to meet the recreational and health needs of Tofino residents. Through delivery of worthwhile leisure experiences, the Tofino Parks and Recreation Programmers strives to improve and promote healthy lifestyles along with an appreciation for surrounding parks, surf and beaches.

The Tofino Recreation Commission is currently reviewing and updating the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. One of the mandates of the Commission is to consider, formulate and recommend policies and procedures to Council regarding the operation of recreational services, special events, and associated cultural programs and services for the community.
