How can I register?

The District of Tofino is now offering online registration for programs available here.  You can also register for programs at the District office, located at 121 Third Street. The office is open from 8:30am-4pm, Monday to Friday. We accept cash, cheque, debit, or credit card.  Credit card payments are accepted at the District office for recreation programs only.      

Why should I register early?

Registering in advance allows us time to consider adding an extra class if the course is full, to ensure adequate supplies are available, and to make staff/instructor changes if we need to expand the program. Sometimes excellent courses with excellent instructors are cancelled if everyone waits until the last minute (think “Tofino time”!). Register early to avoid disappointment for yourself and others. 

What is your cancellation policy?

All programs have a drop-dead date listed ONE week before the start date. This date means that unless the minimum numbers of participants are registered, the program will be cancelled. If the minimum number is met, you can register up until the date the program starts, or until the maximum number of participants has been met - depending on the program. But, if we don’t get enough participants signed up by the drop-dead date, that program will be cancelled. This allows adequate time for parents to find alternative child care and allows instructors the adequate time to readjust their plans. If you are interested in signing up for a program please come in and sign up in time to avoid disappointment! 

Can I put my name on the list and pay later?

To secure your spot in a program, payments must be received prior to the program start date.  If there are open spots in a program it may be possible to register late - however this is dependant on the individual program.  Please note that by registering for a program you are committing to paying for the full program.  Late payments will not be pro-rated, unless at the instructor's discretion.  If you call and register for a program over the phone, a credit card number must be provided to complete the registration.  We cannot hold spots over the phone without receiving payment for the program at the time of registration.  This includes texting or emailing Recreation staff to sign up for programs.  If you are unable to make the full payment prior to the start of the program, please contact Recreation staff and alternative arrangements may be made.

My plans changed - can I get a refund?

Yes!  We are happy to refund any cancellations that are made at least one week in advnace of the program start date (unless otherwise stated in the activity guide).  Aftrer this time we cannot guarantee a full refund.  All cancellations will be charged a 5% administration fee.  You may choose to leave the refunded amount as a credit on your account and apply it to future programs, or have the refund processed via cheque.

Oh no, the program is full! What can I do?

Some classes fill quickly. If the program you want is full, please ask to be placed on the waitlist. You will be contacted if space becomes available or if we add additional classes.

My child is ALMOST of age to register for this program, can they register?

If the program cut off age is 7, your child must be 7 years of age at the time of the program. This helps us ensure the content and delivery of the program is age appropriate.

Life is expensive and I can’t afford a program my child would really like to do. Is there any way they can still attend?

Yes! All kids should have access to Tofino Parks and Recreation programs. Click here to find an application form for the Kids Access Fund, administered through the Tofino Recreation Commission. This fund is here to help subsidize recreation programs for kids in Tofino. Access Funds are available for one program per child/per season (or per seasonal brochure), to ensure there is enough to go around. Don’t be shy in applying; the Fund is here to help you out. 

What is the Tofino Recreation Commission?

The Tofino Recreation Commission is an advisory board to Council, advocating for recreational opportunities for ALL community members. The Commission meets once a month, planning special events, exploring park and facility development and supporting Parks & Recreation staff.
