Agenda Items

  • Delegation from Central Westcoast Forest Society (CWFS):  Council heard a presentation from the CWFS regarding their current projects and goals, including ongoing Kennedy Flats watershed cleanup initiatives, large wood recruitment for instream habitat restoration work, and an overview of environmental services offered by the organization.
  • Delegation from Tofino Housing Corporation (THC) and Catalyst Community Developments Society (Catalyst):  Council heard a presentation from the THC and Catalyst regarding a zoning amendment application that would facilitate an attainable housing development on District Lot 114.  The delegates presented on the history of local housing challenges; details of the proposed site, location and building design; funding considerations; and rent and operational details.
  • Zoning Amendment Application - Tofino Housing Corporation:  Council directed staff to proceed with further review of the zoning amendment application from the THC for the property at 351 Arnet Road (District Lot 114).  The proposal would rezone the property from THC Low to Medium Multiple Family Residential District (CD-THC1) to a Comprehensive Development Zone, to facilitate a multi-family residential development where units are proposed to be rented at below-market rents.  With permission to proceed granted, the next staff report with information about the application will come back to Council at first and second reading of a zoning amendment bylaw, after which point a Public Hearing would be scheduled.  More information about the proposal, including site plans and building designs, are available at
