The Community Children’s Centre, located on the west coast of Vancouver Island, in Tofino BC, is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the full-time position of Child Care Worker.  Reporting to the Daycare Supervisor, the Child Care Worker assists with the day-to-day operations of the Community Children’s Centre.  

In accordance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act – Child Care Licensing Regulation, a Child Care Worker must:

  • Be at least 19 years of age
  • Be able to provide care and mature guidance to children
  • Possess, at minimum, an Early Childhood Educator Assistant Certificate in BC
  • Possess a current Child Safe First Aid certificate
  • Have relevant work experience

Hours of work:

This is a permanent, full-time position based on 30-40 hours per week.  The hourly rate for a Child Care Worker is between $21.23 and $22.70, based on qualifications. This position is subject to a probationary period during which time the wage will be between $19.11 and $20.43.  The position offers a full range of benefits, including a pension plan, and is subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between CUPE Local 118 and the District of Tofino.
