Have Your Say on Business Regulations!

Two bylaws that regulate businesses will be included on the May 14th, 2019, Regular Council meeting agenda for Third Reading. There will be an opportunity for the public to be heard on both items before Council decides whether to move forward.

  • Single Use Item Regulation Bylaw No. 1263: This Bylaw prohibits businesses from providing plastic straws and plastic bags, and requires a minimum fee for paper and reusable bags to ensure there is no excessive rebound in paper/reusable bags.

  • Firewood Retail Regulation Bylaw No. 1262: This Bylaw requires businesses to post signage at the point of sale or supply of firewood, and requires that information be provided to customers regarding both Provincial and Municipal campfire regulations. In addition, businesses must post signage to indicate any provincial fire ban or restrictions implemented by the Province that includes the District of Tofino.
