The District of Tofino owns and operates Seaview Cemetery along with an historic cemetery site on Morpheus Island. Seaview Cemetery is available for veterans, residents and non-residents as a final resting place for their loved ones. Seaview Cemetery is located  2 KM past the Tourist Information Centre along the Pacific Rim Hwy offering traditional in ground burial for both casket and cremated remains.

Clayoquot’s first European cemetery is located one kilometer off Tofino and at the entrance of Browning Passage , known as Clayoquot Cemetery Company then later and current as Morpheus Island. Though not currently used by the public the graves located in a meadow on the island include members of Clayoquot’s first English, Norwegian and Japanese communities.

Lives are commemorated - deaths are recorded - families are reunited

Communities’ accord respect, families bestow reverence, historians seek information and our heritage is thereby enriched. Testimonies of devotion, pride and remembrance are carved in stone to pay warm tribute to accomplishments and to the life - not death - of a loved one. The cemetery is homeland for family memorials that are a sustaining source of comfort to the living.

A cemetery is a history of people - a perpetual record of yesterday and a sanctuary of peace and quiet today. A cemetery exists because every life is worth loving and remembering - always.
